Penlux x Nagahara Delgado Gladius Blue Grotto Fountain Pen with Fude Nib (Special Edition)

We are delighted to offer pre-orders for the Delgado Gladius Blue Grotto Fude Nib, a collaboration between Taiwan’s @penlux.pen and the renowned Japanese nib master, Mr. Yukio Nagahara!

The Nib Master
Mr Yukio Nagahara is the son of the late Nib Master Nobuyoshi Nagahara. They both served Sailor for many years and pioneered the distinctive nib grinding style known as “Naginata-togi.” Currently, Mr. Nagahara operates his own workshop, “The Nib Shaper” (@thenibshaper), where he continues to refine his nib shaping craft.

Nagahara’s Fude Nib
Fude nibs are nibs with a bent tip, allowing you write with different line variation depending on your writing pressure and the angle that the nib is held against the paper. Fude means “brush” in Japanese and this nib style was originally created Mr. Nagahara senior to mimic a brush’s ability to produce different line widths!

Hand ground by Nagahara-san junior himself, the Fude nib will be available in:

  • 14k Gold; and
  • Stainless Steel

Unique Pen Barrel
The barrel of the Blue Grotto is crafted using Penlux's multi-layer compression (Plaques) technique, in which each pen is made of 26 PMMA layers compressed under high pressure. The barrel is then meticulously hand-polished by skilled artisans, resulting in a captivating luster that shines in the light. Each pen has a unique pattern.

Each pen comes with a certificate which is signed by the owner of Penlux, Mr. Hsu, and the nib master, Mr. Yukio Nagahara.

Due to the time-consuming nature of the nib grinding process, the pens would only be available for purchase by pre-ordering, with an expected production time of at least six weeks.
