Be prosperous like a honeybee as you wield this pen:

Taccia Empress Fountain Pen - Imperial Honeybee (Limited Edition)

Here is a truly exquisite and auspicious writing instrument that aims to bestow prosperity, good health and abundance to the user. With only 88 pieces available worldwide, this fountain pen is a unique collector's piece of art that exemplifies the ultimate Japanese maki-e artistry.

Crafted using traditional Japanese maki-e techniques, the Empress Imperial Honeybee combines Raden (abalone and mother-of-pearl fragments) and Nashiji gold dust techniques with Taka Maki-e to create a stunning and vivid three-dimensional visual representation of imperial honeybees harvesting nectar among chrysanthemum flowers.

The masterful use of raden is seen throughout the pen:  mother-of-pearl pieces form the wings of the bees while bluish glowing pieces decorate the eyes of the bees and the center of the chrysanthemum flowers.  Polychromatic iridescent raden shells were inlaid in the hexagonal hives in the background.  The Nashiji maki-e further adds an enchanting speckled gold dust effect on both ends of the pen, resulting in a masterpiece that delights both the eye and the hand.

About the Imperial Honeybees

In Asian culture, the honeybee symbolizes diligence, discipline, prosperity and abundance. The chrysanthemum represents honor, rejuvenation, health and nobility.  With the TACCIA Empress Imperial Honeybee, you not only embrace these cultural significances but also possess a work of art that celebrates the beauty of tradition and craftsmanship.

TACCIA was founded in 2003, with a mission to create masterpieces of writing instruments, combining artistic craftsmanship with high quality materials. To TACCIA, pens are the perfect accessory – fun to collect, display, and wear, and an intimate form of communication often lost in this internet age.

They are most known for their urushi lacquer pens, in which a master urushi artist applies, by hand, a natural lacquer to the pen barrel, layer by layer. TACCIA’s artists utilize a variety of traditional and innovative techniques to create their pens, often spending months at a time to produce each piece. In addition, they also carry more affordable, high quality writing instruments so that we may all enjoy the gift of writing together.
