Tanabata is a Japanese festival that originated from the Chinese Qixi Festival (Chinese Valentine’s Day), dedicated to love and hope.
According to Japanese folklore, the Milky Way separated two lovers Orihime and Hikoboshi, and they are allowed to only meet once a year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month. On this day, Japanese people would write their wishes on small pieces of paper and tie it on bamboo branches and hope that their wishes will soon be realized as the messages wave under the starry sky.
In October 2022, TACCIA began a challenging series, in which they would release a new urushi fountain pen each month. Each pen would draw inspiration from a special event or sighting during that month.
Inspired by the starry night sky of midsummer, the Japanese brand TACCIA created the limited edition "The Day of Tanabata" as part of their Iro-joukei series for the July in 2023, aiming to make your wishes shine like the galaxy above.
The pen barrel is crafted from ebonite and shaped to have 12 sides, with a deep dark blue as the primary color of the lacquer and combined with a gradient effect based on gold powders. The lacquer artist meticulously applies layers of lacquer and gold powders, then hand-polishes the barrel to restore the brilliance of the gold powders. It is truly a labor of love, a time-consuming and labor-intensive craft.
Purely handmade, limited to 88 pieces worldwide. A Japanese-made kimono pen pouch is included in the gift box.
The pen has a Japanese-made 14k-gold nib.

How much is my shipping?
Hong Kong and Macau have a flat rate of HKD 35.
For all other countries, the shipping rate is dependent on the order’s weight and will be calculated at checkout.
Which courier will my order be shipped through?
For Hong Kong and Macau, your order will be shipped through SF Express.
For Taiwan, your orders will be shipped through SF Express or E-Express.
For all other countries, Standard Tracked Shipping is shipped through E-Express. Express Tracked Shipping is shipped through Speed Post.
When will my order arrive?
Standard Tracked Shipping: For Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, estimated delivery time is approximately 2-4 working days. For the rest of Asia, 2-7 working days. For the rest of the world, 7-14 working days.
Expedited Shipping: Within Asia, typically 2-4 days. For the rest of the world, around 3-5 days.
