The Papilio maraho is a rare butterfly found only in Taiwan. It‘s classified as endangered and is often called Taiwan’s ”National Butterfly.“ Its tails have beautiful red patterns that resemble crescent moons. Because there are so few of them, sightings in the wild are very rare, which has led Japanese scholars to nickname it the ”Dream Butterfly.“
Taiwan’s Fine Writing Int. aims to showcase different craftsmanship in this single fountain pen, using composite materials. Their ”Maki-e + Precious Wood“ series beautifully combines maki-e art with wooden pens.
The pen cap and body are made from black persimmon wood, handcrafted by skilled artisans. The precise joining of the pen body and the maki-e part requires exceptional craftsmanship.
The maki-e artwork is created by Taiwanese artisan Seishu, who depicts the Papilio maraho sipping nectar from a Bidens alba, all against a mother-of-pearl background. This intricate process takes several months and demands significant patience and skill.
This pen uses a converter or ink cartridge and is equipped with a German 18K, Broad, gold nib.
Only five of these exquisite pens have been made, making them a rare artisanal treasure.

How much is my shipping?
Hong Kong and Macau have a flat rate of HKD 35.
For all other countries, the shipping rate is dependent on the order’s weight and will be calculated at checkout.
Which courier will my order be shipped through?
For Hong Kong and Macau, your order will be shipped through SF Express.
For Taiwan, your orders will be shipped through SF Express or E-Express.
For all other countries, Standard Tracked Shipping is shipped through E-Express. Express Tracked Shipping is shipped through Speed Post.
When will my order arrive?
Standard Tracked Shipping: For Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, estimated delivery time is approximately 2-4 working days. For the rest of Asia, 2-7 working days. For the rest of the world, 7-14 working days.
Expedited Shipping: Within Asia, typically 2-4 days. For the rest of the world, around 3-5 days.
